The second-largest publicly traded corporate bitcoin holder, MARA Holdings (MARA), has announced the completion of the acquisition of a wind farm in Texas, adding 114 megawatts of nameplate wind capacity and 240 megawatts of interconnection capacity to its operations.
The Florida-based company plans to use the wind farm to power bitcoin mining operations using last-generation ASIC mining hardware “that would have otherwise been written off or sold into the secondary market.”
MARA noted that repurposing the machines and leveraging renewable energy will reduce bitcoin mining products costs while using wind power that might have otherwise gone unused.
“With this added renewable energy asset, MARA now owns and operates 136 megawatts of generating capacity,” CEO Fred Thiel said in an announcement.
MARA is the second-largest publicly traded corporate bitcoin holder, with 45,659 BTC on its balance sheet.

Stripe Tests New Stablecoin Project as $3.7T Market Looms

Stripe is preparing to test a new stablecoin payments product aimed at companies based outside the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.
The company’s CEO, Patrick Collison, confirmed on social media that Stripe had been planning this offering for nearly a decade and is now opening it up to pilot users.
The announcement comes after Stripe received regulatory approval to acquire Bridge, a payments platform founded by former Coinbase executives Zach Abrams and Sean Yu. Bridge’s infrastructure offers an alternative to traditional systems like SWIFT for cross-border transactions.
Stripe’s stablecoin pilot project comes at a time when companies ranging from crypto firms to TradFi banks are piling into the industry, trying to grab a piece of the red-hot sector. In fact, Citi said stablecoins could be a “ChatGPT” moment for blockchain adoption, and the market, primarily pegged to the U.S. dollar, could grow up to $3.7 trillion by 2030 with regulatory support.
Stripe has a long history with crypto. It was the first major payment processor to support bitcoin payments back in 2014, though it later dropped the feature over BTC’s slow transaction speeds and fees.

TON Foundation, the entity behind the Telegram-linked TON blockchain, has appointed Maximilian Crown, co-founder of MoonPay, as its CEO.
Crown was the CFO and COO at the crypto infrastructure provider and has relationships with banks, payments companies, and regulatory bodies. He will remain on the board at MoonPay.
The move comes one month after the TON Foundation announced that it had received $400 million worth of investment from venture capitalist firms that purchased the TON token.
Active users on the TON blockchain jumped from 4 million to 41 million in the past year. However, the TON token, is down by 46% in the same period.
It aims to onboard 30% of Telegram’s active users to the blockchain by 2028.
“TON’s speed, scalability, and exclusive integration with Telegram set it apart in the blockchain space,” said Maximilian Crown. “With access to over 1 billion Telegram users, TON has a unique opportunity to expand its ecosystem globally and redefine how blockchain technology is adopted at scale.”

Analog, a blockchain project looking to improve unified liquidity across multiple networks, said it raised $15 million through a token sale.
Digital asset financier Bolts Capital completed the token purchase to bring Analog’s total backing to $36 million, according to an emailed announcement shared with CoinDesk on Tuesday.
Analog plans to use the capital to develop interoperability tools like Omnichain Analog Token Standard (OATS), which enables transfer of fungible and non-fungible assets across blockchains chains
Also in the pipeline is Firestarter, a real-world asset (RWA) marketplace to tokenize real estate, collectibles and revenue-producing items.
Tokenization of RWAs represents a use case for blockchain technology of considerable interest for traditional financial (TradFi) institutions.
However, fragmented liquidity across multiple ecosystems is a potential roadblock to further adoption that interoperability projects like Analog are looking to demolish.
