Bitwise’s Spot XRP ETF Registration Statement Unveiled, Price Falls 7%

Crypto asset manager Bitwise has made a significant move by submitting an initial registration statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Wednesday for its spot XRP ETF. This action confirms the authenticity of its filing on September 30, following widespread speculation regarding the development.

XRP ETF Applications Gain Momentum

Despite this initial step, the road to approval is fraught with challenges. No XRP ETF is guaranteed to meet the SEC’s regulatory standards

Recent reports indicate that applications for ETFs linked to Solana, the fifth-largest cryptocurrency, were recently rescinded due to the SEC’s concerns about Solana’s legal standing. Nonetheless, Hunter Horsley, CEO of Bitwise, expressed confidence in XRP’s potential as an investment opportunity.

“XRP is one of the most enduring, well-known assets in the space and is also recognized among mainstream investors,” Horsley stated in an interview with Fox Business. He emphasized that Bitwise aims to help investors access opportunities in the cryptocurrency market, and the filing for a Bitwise XRP ETF aligns with that mission.

In addition to Bitwise’s efforts, Fox Business has learned that another XRP ETF filing has emerged from Canary Capital, a newly formed crypto-focused investment firm founded by Steven McClurg, co-founder and former chief investment officer of Valkyrie Funds. Canary’s XRP ETF was filed on September 24.

Implications Of SEC’s Ripple Lawsuit

The regulatory status of XRP has been a contentious issue over the past years, particularly following the SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple in 2020, claiming that XRP sales constituted what the agency calls “unregistered securities offerings.”

A recent ruling provided Ripple a partial victory, determining that only certain sales—specifically to institutional investors—were classified as securities. This ruling has significant implications for XRP’s future, particularly as the SEC approaches its October 7 deadline to appeal.

As reported by Bitcoinist earlier this week, Pro-XRP attorney Fred Rispoli has indicated that the likelihood of an SEC appeal is higher than the chance of the agency allowing the case to conclude without further action.

Rispoli highlighted the stakes involved, noting that if the SEC chooses not to appeal, it could set a precedent that distinguishes Ripple’s case from future cryptocurrency sales. This could have wider implications, not only for Bitwise’s XRP ETF application but also for other institutions making similar moves to offer the same investment vehicles for the token.

This could be similar to the newly launched Bitcoin and Ethereum Spot ETF markets, which were approved and launched in January and July this year, respectively, with the world’s largest asset managers offering these index funds to their clients, further supporting the adoption and investment in these cryptocurrencies.

XRP Price

Despite this notable development for the XRP market, its price has failed to follow the excitement generated among investors, as the token has followed the broader market’s decline with a 7% drop in the 24-hour time frame, resulting in a current trading price of $0.578.

Despite this, the cryptocurrency is still managing to hold on to some of its gains from last month, up 5% over the period. However, XRP has only managed to gain 10% every year, highlighting the lack of catalysts and bullish momentum for further recovery.

This is particularly evident in the gap between the current trading price and the all-time high of $3,040 reached in January 2018, leaving a difference of 82% from the record peak.

However, a full victory for Ripple and other institutions to follow Bitwise’s initiative for an XRP ETF could have a noticeable impact on the price and perhaps renew investor confidence in the token, strengthening the bullish outlook for the rest of the year.

Ripple CLO Stuart Alderoty Challenges US SEC

Published

Ripple CLO Stuart Alderoty slammed the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for bragging about enforcement actions and raising record fines. Stuart Alderoty has challenged the bragging rights of the US SEC, highlighting the flawed approach the government agency has taken in lawsuits.

Ripple CLO Slams US SEC For Boasting About Fines Collection

Ripple CLO Stuart Alderoty reacted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) post on X about collecting record fines in the history of the agency.

Alderoty lambasted the US SEC for bragging about record fines collection. He compared it with a professor boasting about their highest-ever class failure rate and the most cheating scandals.

Furthermore, he added that the SEC’s oversight has gone wrong, driven by perverse incentives. Notably, the agency has also failed to provide clarity to the crypto community about rules and regulations. “It’s not a measure of success,” he added.

“We announced that the SEC filed 583 total enforcement actions in fiscal year 2024 while obtaining orders for $8.2 billion in financial remedies, the highest amount in SEC history, said the US SEC.

The government agency also boasted about the success of the Division of Enforcement under SEC Chair Gary Gensler. It claims the enforcement division has helped promote the integrity of capital markets to benefit investors.

However, investors claimed the agency has harmed investors more and Gary Gensler is the least effective SEC Chairman in American history.

Ripple Launches Tokenized Money Market Fund

Ripple has introduced its first tokenized money market fund in partnership with UK-based asset manager abrdn and crypto exchange Archax. The fund, available on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), aims to enhance financial accessibility and liquidity.

Meanwhile, XRP futures open interest surpassed $2.50 billion, signaling growing trader activity. Whale accumulation also continues, with over 250 million XRP purchased during recent price dips. This has fueled speculation of a rally toward $20 as XRP shows strong market demand.

Currently, XRP price trades at $1.33, down 10% in the last 24 hours. Its market cap stands at $75 billion, with $10 billion in trading volume.

XRP Price Hits 3-Year High At $1.6

Published

on

Este artículo también está disponible en español.

The XRP price recently surged to a three-year high of $1.6, marking a significant milestone in the cryptocurrency’s recent bullish rally. This remarkable price movement has garnered the attention of many analysts as investors continue to project the trajectory of the price.

There are basically two ways the XRP price can go from here: either a continued move upwards or a notable correction. An in-between is a consolidation pattern.

CrediBULL Crypto shared his insights on the potential paths the altcoin might take next. Using the Elliott Wave Theory, he highlighted two scenarios that could shape XRP’s near-term future.

What’s The Next Path For XRP Price?

According to CrediBULL Crypto, XRP’s recent rally exhibits a textbook example of a five-wave impulsive move, complete with clearly identifiable subwaves. This pattern confirms that the cryptocurrency has likely reached its absolute bottom at the November low of $0.49, which is a strong foundation for its current upward trend.

The impulsive wave structure suggests that the crypto is at a pivotal juncture, and its future trajectory hinges on whether it sustains specific price levels.

The first possibility centers on XRP failing to maintain its position above $1.05, which is the origin of the fifth subwave in the current impulsive structure. Should this level break, it would confirm that the XRP price is in a larger Wave 2 correction.

According to the Elliot Waves Theory, Waves 2 and 4 are corrective waves, while Waves 1, 3, and 5 are the main bullish waves. before This correction, while bearish in the short term, would lay the groundwork for an even stronger Wave 3 rally in the future.

XRPUSD is currently trading at $1.34. Chart: TradingView

CrediBULL Crypto predicts a very different outcome if the XRP price manages to hold above the $1.05 level. Holding above the $1.05 level would indicate that the fifth subwave is extending. In this case, the analyst predicted that the XRP price will surpass the $2 mark before experiencing any substantial pullback.

The Road Ahead For XRP

XRP, which had lingered below the $1 threshold for the past three years, has now firmly established itself above this pivotal mark. The recent XRP price surge to $1.6 suggests that the cryptocurrency is in a stronger position to target the $2 milestone rather than retreat into a significant correction. This bullish sentiment is bolstered by speculation around SEC Chairman Gary Gensler’s anticipated resignation in January 2025.

The XRP price climb to $1.6 reflects its growing strength in the market. Nonetheless, the next phase of its journey depends on key support and resistance levels. At the time of writing, the XRP price is trading at $1.46, having corrected by about 8.5% in the past 24 hours. However, the XRP price is still up by 175% in the past 30 days.
